Friends I know in Colorado that do heavy equipment excavating work don't do plowing with direct contracts, only working as subs. That way, the GC gets hit with any lawsuits that arise -- and apparently they average 1-2 lawsuits per year, lawyers on retainer. People's cars getting buried...- Stumpshot
