    New Chipper for TreeCareLA, too!

FWIW, my supervisor at Parks used to have a 6"x 6" throat vermeer 625. He said it worked decently with sharp knives, proper anvil condition and adjustment. If that has a 6x12" throat, and in good condition, it would be a good money maker, at least until you got a bigger one. Do people use a lot...

Sounds promising, Dylan. Its hard to know what 780 hours means for wear and tear... sounds practically new. My chipper's hour meter was stuck for at least several years at around 3700, and its almost as old as me, though it can still eat as much as it did when it was young, I imagine. My...

Sweet Nick. That would look great on the chip truck, too. What 99designs thing, Other Nick?

Its great that you have a short, sweet name, which only needs .com added after it to get the right website. I'm South Sound Tree and Landscape, but my website is only SouthSoundTree.com... not intuitive.

What about TreeCareLA.com on the truck. Its a great website name...so easy to spell and remember. If its high up on the box, it shows over cars both in parking lots and if parked at the curb/ in the driveway at a jobsite. Visibility for drivers-by.

Wow, that's slow. Did ya see the pile of brush behind the chipper? Yikes. The proverbial Month Of Sundays.

Bandit told us to open the bottom tray to help let any picked up gravel drop out before getting to the blades. We try to avoid gravel, but have park employees and convict crews working sometimes. Duane and I are good at avoiding it. Something about taking care of our equipment and having/ having...

Financing a 50K chipper for a first chipper seems like something nobody would do. Financing or outright purchase of a newer, smaller 10k-20K chipper might be a better bet. If it will be spending all you have saved, might be worth keeping a bit of a nest egg, paying for most, financing a portion...

Dylan, With 7000 hours, it might be like buying a high mile BMW. Still life left with performance, but the cheapest operating time is long gone. Is there a maintenance/ repair log? IDK what kind of market value that chipper has, and its hard for anyone to guess, but I'd start offering a low...

For example, Vermeer 620 and 625 are disc, not drum. Bandit 65xp, 75 xp, 90xp and 95xp are disc. Sharp knives and anvil, along with proper gap between the two, contribute to better chips. I wonder if there is some correlation between drum size and chip "quality" . A larger drum will cut down...
