its time for me to upgrade my style.

I'll lower down a pull line on a spar while keeping my flipline tight enough, in conjunction with my spurs, to catch me if somehow the rope were to break under my 200# load, and never, ever pull over a spar with my lifeline. As an owner, I feel this is reasonable. For employees, safe is not...

I found myself yesterday with a good reason to buy the pin. That slic-pin is slick. I've not been excited about the bulky push button types that can easily tangle. I am climbing on a one-end spliced eye Poison Hyvee. After transferring to an adjacent tree, I would have like to be able to...

Probably no tether needed, like so many other things that go untethered up there. Just a matter of slip the pin out, remove the rope from the RW, and slip it back in until ready to redeploy.

Dave, where did you get that? I saw someone changed all the bolts on their RW with some that have an inset hex or allen spot, rather than an external hex. Anybody know about this? I don't remember where I saw it. Possibly on that other forum place.

I work removals SRT a lot with conifers and the smaller amount of spreading trees that I do. I find a central lead and cinch it there. A good thing about the RW, and probably the RW with the midline attachment (have yet to mod mine), is that you can change to DdRT quick and easy. I use my RW...

Dialing in the diameter of the rope with the adjustable bar on the RW is important. I feel like my RW tether cord is too short and will be trying a slightly longer one. I think that I'll be trying an RW system with a pantin on my one foot, and bungee'd floating foot ascender with foot loop...

Paul, for clarity regarding the ropewalker, are you figuring that the toothed ascenders are both below the friction hitch?

http://treemagineers.com/downloads/hitch_climbers_guide.pdf Good point, Dave. Friction sucks on redirects with a running rope...Go SRT! Emergency ground lowering system...Go SRT!

Mechanical ascenders are easier on the body. A Pantin to use your leg and a hand ascender with footloop for using your other leg saves the upper body a lot of work and wear and tear. A Rope Wrench rocks. You can make a wooden one for next to free in 20 minutes, so why not try it???? You have...
