I have no use for the two way gates, but it was a used trailer and the price was right. I even contemplated welding it shut to eliminate the two way function but I think that would be a waste of time with no benefit, and reduction of future resale value. I am disappointed the gates don't open...

Another year, another dump trailer. A few weeks ago I sold my little 6x12 Big Tex because it was too small, too tall and too heavy for what it was. But the week I had it up for sale I needed it on 3 jobs over 3 days. I ended up making multiple trips because it was too small. So I sold it on a...

Top Shelf or Texas Pride. Basic, solid trailers without all the pricey add ons. Although I do like my Big Tex, and the 3 way gate wouldn't be enough to turn me away from them. The finish is much nicer, wiring is heavier and lights are better.

No, it doesn't. I have a friend who has one though, and he's never used the 3 way. Just extra weight and more places for the gates to get bent out of shape IMO. Trailer prices are insane right now due to steel prices, but I'd recommend checking with Big Tex, Top Shelf and Texas Pride. Our local...

The design and finish quality of this Big Tex is far superior to any trailer I have owned in the past. I'm impressed with the way the tongue beams curve and tie into a solid cross beam where the hydraulic cylinder is mounted. There are 45 degree braces at the back corners to prevent frame...

Well a lot has changed in 3 years since I started this thread. The business is gone, both dump trailers are gone and I've spent the last year unemployed and sitting on my ass. A few weeks ago I decided I was finally ready to get back to work and figured it would be a good idea to buy a mini...

Axles are rated for 9000 lbs. They are not Dexters, not sure of the brand. I remember the guy I spoke with saying that Dexters may be assembled in the US but most of the components come from overseas.

I've used it a few times and it's really solid. Much better built than my other one. The only mod I've made is the tarp. I lowered the mounting location in front to get the spool below the height of the box, and relocated the back hooks to the back of the doors. I don't haul sand or gravel so...

Chinese tires but they are 18 ply rated I think, 6005 lbs per tire single load. 237/75-17.5

Just got home with it. Over 2 days of rain on the 3 day trip, miserable driving conditions. Trailer is very solid and well built. It doesn't squeak and rattle going down the road like the other one. The old pickup didn't like pulling it, but I made it home.

Sitting here contemplating why I'm spending almost $12K to replace a trailer I just bought a year ago, and ended up writing this email to the folks at U-Dump. Figured I'd post it here as well.

Been really happy with Hampton Inn whenever I've stayed there in the past. Not concerned about the sheets (and I never touch the bedspread).

Thanks, I will. Just finished estimating my times and booking my motel rooms. If I don't book ahead and plan on just pulling over when I'm tired, I never stop and end up just pulling into a truck stop if I don't run off the road. By booking ahead and reserving rooms I can give myself a target or...

The new trailer has been ready and waiting since Monday the 17th. Since it's 3 days of driving to pick it up I have to schedule it around my work schedule. They are closed new years eve as well as new years day but the owner agreed to meet me on Monday, new years eve to pick it up. This way I...

When I bought it it came with 225/75-16 tires, 10 ply. I swapped wheels and tires with my old trailer which had 235/85-16 tires 14 ply. That helped a bit. It's fine if you dump on pavement but you have to be careful dumping in a field or at the dump because the back end comes down within an inch...

I have a few guys who will gladly give me $100 per day to use my current dump trailer. No hurry to get rid of it, I'll let it earn me a few dollars instead of selling it right away. And I think it will be nice having a backup if I get in a bind.

Not an issue unless you live on the beach and drive in the surf on a regular basis. One winter up north will do more damage than a decade or more driving a mile from the beach.

I ended up contacting Texas Pride directly. when I looked at their website they had several options not mentioned to me by the dealer in Jacksonville. I was looking at an 18K lb rated trailer, but TP also has a 20K lb rated trailer which has 18 ply tires, 4" hydraulic cylinders and dual...
