Or a combination of Brendon's and Darin's ideas: Attach the bolt sticking up through the bed with a nut and then drill a hole through the tip of the bolt for a cotter pin/clip on the inside of the box. ;)

Correct. But keep in mind that most speedometers read a little high by design. Those tires aren't that much bigger than stock, your speedometer is probably closer than you think. You can check it with a GPS.

As far as overloading, I can tell you with certainty that the Ranger will haul a heck of a lot more weight than the S-10. I overloaded the crap out of my '94 many times and it always handled it fine. My neighbor's '94 S-10 can't haul 15 bags of concrete mix.

Leon, I've been a Ford owner all my life and for the most part have been happy with them. But if I were buying today I'd be looking at the Chevys specifically because of the fuel mileage. 3 mpg makes a big difference at $4 per gallon.
