I dislike working on small screens, it shows only portions of large screen, like the Quick Reply box.

I don't do my best to post without errors. Trying to do better. Wish reading and writing wasn't confined to a little bit of the TH screen. If you're only after one-liners, it doesn't matter. If you want to discuss something, you about need to use Word and 'cut and paste' to the Reply box. I...

I've heard a decent round filing beats rookie square filing. It's good for cutting timber. Personally, I use it, then round file it. Too many other things to learn, now.

On the side-plate, you want an even, round " C-shape", not "Italicized C-shape". Some are better than others. 10% of the file above the top-plate.

You are doing pretty well. Too steep of an angle. Tip is weak. Bends down easily. IDK about that raker/ depth gauge being too deep. Looks like the gullet is low enough, and approaching time to change file sizes. Maybe be able to go down to a lower depth a bit than 0.025", though, as Johnny...

What are you wiping it on/ with? Seems like it would take a lot of extra time, but if its cutting better, its cutting faster. Do you tap the file?

When one is limited in opportunity to earn money, saving money is like earning money. If your Opportunity Cost for cleaning files is doing less work, it doesn't "pencil-out".

I was taught to spin, as the advice hadn't changed when files did. I never understood the spin, so I quit, and just filed sharp. Now I know why it worked. If you're using a non symmetrical file handle or guide, it's easy to get dull spots. You need to change the 'side' of the file that is...

I showed my ground-man the 4x's zoom. He was astonished. I can spot a not sharp chain from far away. I think in part because I had really good eyesight and bright Nevada sun to learn by. From the blurry picture, I'd guess every front-working corner is bent down. Round-top, aka chipper chain...
