Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

Some down pressure for part of the time? Silkies are mad sharp. Why did you not climb into the tree and do some work? Did the truck bed-ladder situation not raise any alarm bells? Did the truck not move around? Perhaps you had such a hard time cutting because you were doing it...

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

So I once had a customer named Herman Williams. After I took down a crispy silver maple in his back yard, he got excited and motivated. Luckily, when he fell of the ladder, breaking his arm prevented him from breaking his head on the concrete driveway. I did a bid recently for a guy in a...

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

If you're going to pull a hanger with it, DO Not get the saw caught in the falling hanger. You don't want to ruin the saw blade/ pole, nor your shoulder/ wrist/ elbow/ etc trying to pull it free somehow, with a dynamic load and a lever working against you.

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

Pole tools have their valuable place, but it can mean somewhat getting under something, and releasing it from the tree. Sometimes you can direct the falling piece away from you. Dodging stuff, and falling at any age sucks. In your 60's, it's a BIG deal. My friend tripped in a little hole...

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

Today, using a throw line I snapped a lot of dead limbs out of what was an interior doug-fir (mostly dead limbs until up high, around 50-60'). After getting some of that crap out of the way, I way able to get a workable TIP. Its not uncommon to have to break some wood out of the way to get a...

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

mostly right. These were huge fir trees, with 30'+ limbs, several inches thick, starting way up high. You will be pulling the limb at you, if you have both ends. Sometimes this is desirable, sometimes not desirable. I was pulling the limbs downward, from the side, with a 2:1 MA, by anchoring...

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

I mean that in more than one way. One part, avoid the pole tools. The other part throw lines for helping reduce risk when working with pole tools. I hang small trees off other trees without leaving the ground sometimes. Similarly, I rig tree parts off the same tree with setting the rigging...

Benefit of a 20' pole saw?

Robert, throw line skills to install ropes for removal can be very effective. Ropes in the right places can help a lot, compared to releasing branches from above you. You can secure a tree, pull a tree where you want, snap out rotten pieces, hang whole trees from other trees. Set highline...
