New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

Who knows Dave. Yale are a great company, with integrity I believe. Not sure how much crane/tree work they do though. So, this looking less like an idea of any sorts, and more like a reintroduced concept. Awesome

I must admit, I didn't really get out of downtown when I was there :)

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

I'd say our opinion are informed, not useless. It doesn't take much imagination from a person who's had lots of experience with cranes, rigging and a variety of hardware involved, to envisage what these slings would be like to use out in the field. Whilst someone with much less experience might...

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

Above all else, Im going to try my best not to get into an argument :) Ive been doing crane work since I was 20. Im 44 now. Never had anything fail, never dropped a clevis or been struck by one. I might be a little rusty at the moment, but Id still bet my craning skills against anyone out...

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

I like Nick. I helped him out once. I will again if need be. That's why I've posted, otherwise I'd have said nothing. Having done more crane work than most, I see that thing as a time bomb. Take it or it leave it.

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

Probably it does work Dave, same as tying a knot. But, if its hundreds of years old, and nothing new, then it's perhaps with good reason why I've never seen it used by crane companies. Ive done my share of that. I just don't think it's a step forward by any means.

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

I just think it looks bad, Dave....that big stopper knot. I could see someone trying to copy it, and having a mishap. I like the no-knot/Crosby hook thing....but this looks shit, and doesn't inspire confidence. No offense Nick. It's not solving anything.

New Choking Crane Sling Stays on Hook

Nick, I think you should abolish that idea and delete the video before someone tries to mimic it. Splice in a piece of steel to replace that stopper knot, and you might have something. But as is, it looks like a bad example of rigging to be putting out there. You're gaiNing nothing in safety...
