Need my first "big saw" advice on ms46x's?

Some places especially out in the country haven't caught up yet to the recent minimum wage changes, and the great expense of worker's comp insurance and new emissions compliant over computerized equipment with steel being more expensive nowadays makes it hard for a lot of tree businesses to keep...

How much did it cost? I've tried ordering Stihl rims from the dealer, and they want an insane price, when Oregon rims are under $10 I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. It could happen quickly, but just don't be surprised if it doesn't, because it seems hard to find enough good help in the...

The 500i has the low end torque to support a 8 tooth rim. Sometimes I keep an extra rim handy depending on what I'm doing, so I can swap to a smaller one for running a long bar in hard wood, or a bigger rim for either soft wood, or short bar. A bigger rim will spin the chain faster which makes...

If the chain isn't getting enough oil the chain and cutters will look like dry dirt is baked on, or like how a dremel grinding stone or sander gets burned on wood plugging the surface. Sufficiently oiled chains generally look clean. I like to set my oil pump so it runs out at the same time as...

This is the main reason why I'll use it even on 20". Vibration could be linked to type of chain, bar, power head, ect. If not for quicker sharpening, I'll still use full skip on 28" and larger for better wood chip clearance. Plus, full skip is lighter too, for those who care about every ounce...

I'll even use full skip on a 20" bar, and save full comp chain for when I want lower kick back and smoother cutting. Just make sure the skip you get is full skip, not semi skip.

Forget the sugihara or versa cut bar, Stihl light is the best light bar you can get. I can't say that sugi is even lighter than a regular Stihl bar, certainly not by any significant amount.
