Yep- cool test. I wonder what would happen if you repeated the same test but applying 1,000 per cycle. I've seen ropes adjust and settle in at moderate loads when put on the testing bed. I wonder if that would continue over many loads. love nick

Moray- That's a swell idea. I've spliced small reeving eyes ropes before, but that's usually with the cover of the rope. I like your loop+knot+whipping idea. If you made the loop just a bit bigger you could girth hitch the ring off an on rather than having that extra piece of string you used...
