Wagnaw- interesting vid. But I don't think that is a great backup. The Croll (gold) ascender isn't really the backup. The Croll is the first link in his chain, so really, the Kong is backing up the Croll. But on the other side the Kong is the primary and the hitch is the backup. Not ideal...

I was thinking you could wrap a piece of padded leather and sew it in place to increase the bend radius. But I'm with Burnham on this one. I don't think the type of fall this setup could ever see would ever do enough damage to the rope to prevent it from serving its purpose. love nick

Clever solution. I want to splice it!!! Okay, that would lock everything together forever...but man, those knots are big! Does the velcro hold together in a regular climbing scenario? love nick
