    "NoThanks"

Advice? Ignore anything a self styled guru (like me) might say! The argumentative client’s trees were due to be done Friday, however the hired man’s wife was rushed to hospital so I delayed it till Monday, Friday afternoon they cancelled citing the usual nonsense. Waste of time and charm (not...

FWIW, and it doesn?t prove anything one way or another, I got the job from the argumentative clients today. A grands worth of work, for a relatively easy day (and a cup of coffee and a chat about dogs)

A good plan. But keep a ear cocked to hear who’s winning and who really sits on the Iron Throne

I was going to walk out because I thought it was a waste of time, no mention of being uncomfortable. When you played sport what were the most memorable victories? The easy ones or the unexpected/coming back from a losing position ones?

Was bidding this afternoon, interesting spectrum of clients. 1: Middle class client, instant rapport, good days work, removal and grinding, got it on the spot. 2: Slightly drunk “space invader” couple of removals, wanted to pay half what it was worth, offered cash, not worth it, got out quick...

I’m sure that’s what Bob was referring to Merle. It was a decent thread about customer relations, hopefully it won’t turn into a anti liberal nonsense fest. Bob can’t write a cheque without give it a political spin.

Me, I like a challenge, taking on a difficult client, taming them, doing a good job and collecting a ch?que is as, if not more satisfying than a difficult tree. People get fulfillment in different ways.

Why do you have to “enjoy” working for someone? How does this enjoyment manifest itself as opposed to someone you don’t care for?

Ok, it’s just that we would all love to just have clients who eulogised over our work, never questioned prices and went along with anything we suggested, but that’s not the real world. I’m just differentiating between awkward, demanding, price conscious, pushy, picky clients, who are normal...

I don’t like plenty of my clients, plenty don’t like me I’m sure. It’s a business transaction, not a barbeque. I don’t get insulted if they try to get something thrown in for free, I just say yes or no. That doesn’t put them in the black book, takes a lot more than that to get me to turn my...

Tell them you don’t want to do it. Edit, I’m being a bit of a fibber there. A while back I was short of work and travelled an hour and a half away to price work for an English client from the old days. I underpriced it, not just from a difficulty point of view but logistically. They said...
