Love my 540, it's always a toss up which comes out of the van 540 or (new, non crap 201) Only problem is the rear av spring which went west rather too easily. I just whipped it out, bent it back in the vice a bit, then put it back.

Anything ported will perform better. From stock, my 201 (the second one) and the 540 especially are as good if not better than my 200s. Don't confuse noise with power! (Joke!!!!)

You're pretty traumatised by your recent experiences! Honestly I have a 540 and a recent 201 and they are as good as gold. Don't throw money at a pile of old bangers! You've been very unlucky, no doubt about that.

Come back to the 201! Mine both run perfect now, the older troublesome one was liberated with some holes drilled into the exhaust, the newer one has been superb from day one.

I understand your trepidation, if I could have bought a 540 I would have, but we had a large row of trees that needed deadwooding with two climbers working so.... none of the husky dealers had one in stock so I bought another 201, it's completely different to the one bought a month earlier.

I bought two 201s a month apart, the first rubbish, the second easily as good as my best 200. (Cap thing not really an issue for me)
