That is a spring loaded hand guard on the 090AV rather than a chain brake if I'm not mistaken. I have an AV with that on it.

Serial number, when checked with Stihl, would tell you if it was produced as an AV or is a put together saw. Extra wide bars have a stiffer body that doesn't bow as much when flipped over on its side for felling cuts.

Serial no checked through Stihl should tell you if that were the case.

Check it out thoroughly, that's about 1/3 what it easily could be if in great shape. (Lots of put together frankenstiens sold on ebay.)
