Cal-Line is a high integrity outfit. They did everything they said they would and more to help me get the chipper I wanted. I didn't know you even could deal with them being down in LA or I would have told you that and more before. Glad to hear it.

Yes, visible to the eye. New knives and machine, 86 (?) hours now. I put it there by many touch up sharpenings. No gravel divits in blades, I am pretty finicky about clean material.

Jim that knife dresser Cory pictured uses carbide. You scrape off small amounts of steel. If you tilt it correctly you can only sharpen the face of the blade - almost. Sherrill has one that looks like it would be easy to tilt to proper angle.

Altissimus, how many hours without touching anvil? Bandit has anvils available that are of a harder or more wear resistant steel supposedly. It starts with a crisper/sharper edge like cold rolled steel stock as opposed to hot rolled with a little more radius. It's not going to survive steel...

Google says all Morbarks have 4 sided anvils. You haven't rotated that 3 times in 300 hours right? Part of a chippers 'pulling power' comes from sharp knives in combination with sharp and adjusted anvil.

Nick is it possible your anvil has a 'sharp' (square corner) side that has not been rotated to yet? Most Bandits have 4 sides (edges.)

Thanks for telling us where things are at Nick. It gives good perspective for problems I may run into. Cory is referring to "reversing autofeed" as distinct from "autofeed". I think Bandit has youtube vids that show its benifit to the knives.

Hey, for people that know more about diesel engines (I just now own my first). If something is starving the engine for fuel and I am trying to muddle through it doing re -starts and running the engine, is that cutting lubrication to the engine enough to do damage?

Lot of 250XP's out there. Are you familiar with "My Craigs Finder.com" treebilly? Can search all of Craigslist at one time. Some very nice machines and bargains that might be worth traveling to get or having shipped.
