For anyone not committed to an older model yet these new 50K sound good. Music is supposed to come through better - base. The R model with buttons rather than jog dial is supposed to great with gloves and heartier. Ahh, and best of all no struggle to keep them connected.

Would dialectric (sp) contact lube be the long term solution for this? Just came on recommendation for it and read several viewpoints on the web. Evidently it does not conduct electricity itself but keeps contacts from corroding so they will continue to.

I have fantasized about being able to talk to ground support, equipment operators etc. for over 30 years. And until I read this thread that is what I expected it to remain - a fantasy. This isn't just another box of tree equip. for me. It's closer to a whole new set of possibilities.

When the box came I was so excited i let it sit for hours while I did other things. It felt good just to look forward to it a little longer.
