Blocks and pulleys for arborist work are very often way undersized, bend radius wise. Say, if the rope needs five time its diameter as a bend radius, all you can find is likely a three time. If one wants to do it right, he has to look on the logging blocks or the industrial rigging. But it's...

That's why I never attempted this. No one chance I 'd get it right. And as I don't want to loose my throwline, I don't even try. :D

My 3120xp works so few, that the last time it came on job site, the workout was trying to start it. Usually it needs reliably 7-8 pulls to go, even after one year or so shelf-seating. No way this time, the carb looked off duty.

No, not from what I've seen or heard. Luckily The european countries don't seem to be a sweet area for the EAB, at least for the moment. If, or when, it will finally comes in to spread here, I guess that there wouldn't be much ashes left to kill. Here, the killer is Chalara fraxinea, a fungus...

The common license in France allows only 3.5t. My van is 1.81t, empty, load allowed 1.2t. So it is registred at 3.01t. The trailer accepted with no question is 0.5t. Even with this small trailer, in theory I'm already out by 10 kg. My tiny 4" chipper weights 0.4t. Loaded with it, my trailer...

Some criters like ants and worms love to move a lot of dirt on and in the low bark too. The stumps covered with moss, ivy or dead bark are hard on the chain without a good clean up. Cutting the wood inside out is my favorite for the dirty cuts, but it isn't sufficent some times.

Just two set up for me too. Most of the time, the tree is too low for the expected travel. By the time enough limbs have been removed to get a good working height, it doesn't worth it any more. Usually. The first one was an oak in the midle of an horse's practice. So, jumping the limbs over the...

Surely not, you should never consider the breaking strength to match a task. Just a knot on the rope cuts its strength by half in average, a bit of move/jerk either by the pull or by the load itself and the tension rises. The safety factor isn't made to annoye the users (even if I agree that's...

I don't buy the 1500 lbs limit for the Maasdam. Actually working with it, you can get barely over 900 lbs. It's only a 10:1 MA. But I get your point.

The Maasdam has a 10:1 MA effect built in itself. So that's function of what you can give on your feet and I doubt that you can pull much more over 900 with it, surely not 1500. You can't pull your own weight horizontally. I didn't bent the handle, but dammaged the rope by the friction on the...

Yes, definitively worth having. It isn't costly, even amazingly cheap for its usefulness. It was a revelation when I dicovered it here in the House.
