How long do your saws last?

Bread and butter I don't think anyone asked for here, but sometimes they ask if there is any beer. Can't cut firewood without beer! They look at me like I am crazy when I inform them its a chainsaw shop... No beer.. No good drinking and running saws. On this subject I must say I have been...

How long do your saws last?

Yes.. Fuel in station here is crap and way more expensive then yours. I pay 16SEK/l. In other country's around us its better. Europeans loose about 10-20% power in their cars and trucks so they often bring their own. I know Ethanol is not the big bad wolf in fuel as many think. There is a lot...

How long do your saws last?

I always butter up bearings in two stroke oil when I assemble. I noticed it does wonders when you start them up after rebuild. I have a oil can with fuel to squirt, but on rare occasions I spray a bit carb cleaner in airfilter. It seem to have better affect if you spray in filter rather than...

How long do your saws last?

A thing to keep in mind is that the property's in fuels and oils vary and it can be consequences just from changing fuel/oil/gas even if saw is set and run right for the fuel it has. We used to see that a lot here when Aspen was introduced. I try to tell everyone to shift fuel/oil/mix when you...

How long do your saws last?

There was a test they made here running on Ethanol. First problem they got was finding oil that mixed as they found out quickly most oils don't mix with alcohol. They used a esteric oil. I think it was ricin oil (not sure if the word is correct). They ran them a season here and has dome issues...

How long do your saws last?

I have a HVA44 that has been sitting 15 years+ now in a test to see when fuel get bad enough to affect cold start. It still starts and runs ok. In saw fuel you have the cas and oil. Both are equally important. Alcylate fuel is a lot better for the saws and operator. Some don't like the Aspen oil...

How long do your saws last?

I test all new plugs before I give them to customer or put them in a saw. I look them over so bottom electrode, connection, isolator is OK too. A dropped electrode is a new top end. A cost that is easily avoided as plugs are cheap in comparison. I don't reuse plugs unless I must.

How long do your saws last?

Spark plugs is not what they used to be. Nor are ignitions. Many of the plugs I get today won't spark from box, most not very long. I get mostly champion as I have better luck with them but all of them are the same I guess as I use NGK and Bosch as well and see no difference to speak of. The R...

Most here run 60-65cc as mid range saw and 80-90cc as big. I agree mid range is 55-75cc.

Most pro's here change every year mid range saw. The smaller and big gun 2-3 depending on hrs on them. I usually say if its a moneymaker and cost exceed 40% of new price its not worth the risk. If you have one saw like many do its just as well to change every year.
