It's a Baptist group V. They sent a bunch of folks down your way too, I just got off the phone with an old friend who was stationed out of Big Pine. He said that places he had stayed on other keys lobstering and fishing were just gone. He also said I should ask you about poisonwood. I just...

A few pictures a lady from disaster relief sent of a job we did near Leesburg. A codom laurel oak that was uprooting and splitting. A local tree guy had come by and put a ratchet strap on it the day before and probably saved one house from major damage. These folks are all volunteers, most...

Great to hear that the utilities are up and running V, something most folks take for granted. My wife read something a friend's wife wrote to those complaining that they were still out of power. My friend and his son are both Duke linemen and she relayed that the only time she'd seen them in...

Glad to hear you're caught up on the danger stuff Brian. Just got back from the Leesburg area and was amazed at the damage there. They were on the east side of the center and talking to most of the folks we helped, they all heard the unmistakeable freight train just before things got ugly, so I...

Too funny Brian. Headed down a little northeast of you near Leesburg to do some volunteer work in the morning, talked to the gentleman in charge of the relief effort and he said they could sure use a climber. Evidently some widows and elderly there don't have insurance and cant afford to pay to...

On a different note, I would like to nominate the entire Weather Channel crew for an Oscar. While watching one of their actors,...... I mean reporters, doing a live wind dance in 20mph winds, my wife said she'd love for a bystander to walk up behind them and hold their hands up like; "what are...

Great to read you V! I was sure hoping you guys were on the bay side. Hopefully Greg and his wife are okay. Be safe. On a side note and way down the list of importance, I'm curious how the key deer fared in all this.

There's a good chance of that Butch, a large portion of the state is in the dark.

Pretty much over here, wasn't much to it, probably 40-50 mph winds, not that much rain. The north wind has the tide blown out of here, by far the lowest I've ever seen it, several hundred yards offshore in a lot of places. There's a few outages in the county but all the feeders are hot. I'm...

There's live video from the cruise ship dock at Key West and Marathon. Tide looks normal at Key West and the power is on in both places.

Pretty good video of some different spots. Boats left overboard didn't fair too well. https://twitter.com/PTZtv/status/906907619624759297

Mandatory evac here too but we're not going anywhere today. If it goes east of us we'll be fine. Been wide open the last few days trying to clear up any hazards for regular customers, got home this morning and the wife started pointing out hazards around our house:). I hope V's place is okay...

Hopefully a lot of them will stay out.:D No turn yet, looks like she's coming into the Gulf. Lovely. I just saw video from Marathon and it didn't look too bad there right now.

I've got more ammo than the army and the ability to make a lot more so don't try it. If "Florida's reputation" is having enough balls to defend your family's lives and your household, it's a fine one. My old line foreman from Duke called yesterday and asked if I'd like to go to work. It was...

I didn't say stay, by all means, run like the wind as I'm sure they will or already have. There's a chance Marathon will be spared the worst of the winds if it turns but with an elevation of about three feet above sea level, I would certainly be headed north. They can camp out here if they need to.

Good to read ya V. You guys may be in better shape if it turns north as predicted. Cooler dry air here this morning so hopefully it will push the storm east and back offshore. Way offshore. Unless the law's changed in the last few years Merle, mandatory evacuation is not really mandatory...

It's been like that here too Brian. Had a lady call that wanted a tree on her neighbor's property removed because it might reach her house. "Do you have their permission?" - "No, but if it fell ....." Brian, if the eye lays just offshore of the beach, goes up the coast and continues feeding off...
