I've read that Atlantic salmon don't eat once they come back into fresh water. Do they just strike as a reflex action?

    Beautiful fish and family Willie!

It's a friend's dock Squish, they let us keep our kayaks at their house and give us free run of the place. That's right Jim, caught 'em off that dock, caught the redfish on a "gulp" lure. That jailbird is a sheepshead Cory. If you could see a closeup of his face and teeth you'd see why he's...

Actually the backstraps out of a good sized longnose out of clean water are very good. White flaky meat. It's like cleaning an armadillo though. Tin snips work good once you get a hole in the hide.

Man, that's quite a mixed bag! Some big bream and really nice bass in there, you ever try the gar?

If it hadn't been so expensive Willie I'd have thrown my mask at him, I took it off and was waving it and my snorkel flew off and landed about twenty feet away. You're pretty helpless in the water. I'm looking into a waterproof 12 gauge;). Pop up like a Navy Seal and I bet they'd give you a...

Well handled again Jay. I probably wouldn't have been as nice to the guy in the boat. By law he should've given us 300' instead of 30. I see some crazy stuff on the bay and at the boat ramp. It's one reason we're rarely on the water on weekends.

Got in from work yesterday, the tide was low so the bride and I went scalloping. We anchored up, put up the dive flag, proceeded to get 'em and I hear a boat coming. I pop up and about a 20 foot flats boat is bearing down on us at high speed. My wife is about thirty yards south of me with no...

Very cool Squish! I've been doing a lot in the kayaks both fishing and snorkeling lately because of outboard trouble and I must say I've enjoyed it. Getting back in when you're overboard can be a little tricky though! Those 12' Tarpons are supposed to track really straight and you've got plenty...

Jay, I've thought about it countless times. I've wondered about how abundant seafood must have been, how the Indians fished here, what kind of gear they used and how they prepared the fish and mollusks to eat. There are many oyster and clam shell mounds, pottery shards and the like, but very...

We have some giants, but they are offshore in deep water, 60+ feet. Out of my range. I can just imagine it will be crazy there. Lobster Mobsters, never heard that one! Our scallop opener is pretty hectic, I stay off the water during those circus events.

I'd love to see 'em V. I've never eaten a hogfish, but all my buddies that dive say they are the best fish in the sea. They must be 'cause they sure don't share 'em! My kids are both divers and have been trying to get me to take the course and get certified. I free dive and snorkel, get scallops...

Jay it depends on the stage of the tide but we usually get them in three to five feet of water. Scallop populations fluctuate wildly from year to year, some years the bottom is nearly covered with them, some years, almost nothing. This is one of the really good years. Scalloping has been a fun...
