    Before & After Tree Care

Just out of curiosity Andrew... It's the contract you're tied to which forces you to carry out the job in that way or it's your own choice? I mean .... One possibility is that they don't have enough money for tree maintenance so they tell you to cut as low as possible ( controversial choice...

    Before & After Tree Care

They've been doing the same here on Mulberries and Willows for centuries (feedstock for silkworms, making baskets, feeding cattle and so on). Was not talking about that kind of practice nor about your pic. Pollarding is one thing , leaving a pole is another one, IMHO. And I don't think it is a...

Always something to learn.... Just a joke anyway. Without any judgment here too, but really can't see any advantage in that kind of practice. Not talking about the fact that those poles just look ugly, but thinking that keeping them safe near the power lines will result in an expensive...

Even if you cut a poplar at a stump height it will sprout out again and again....:/: Let the Trametes' feast start :P

Same opinion here. An arborist should be his own first judge, and he is supposed to know very well how the tree will react to the job he is performing. Pruning doesn't mean that a tree just have to look good. Too many factors involved, like we all know. Discussing and sharing different...

We were two climbers. Took us half a day. Really funny tree to climb. Only had to pay attention not to make too many holes in the greenhouse. ;)

    Before & After Tree Care

Coming back to see how trees react after a pruning job is an invaluable practice and the best way to learn about them. My experience with trees is far shorter than yours. I've never painted wounds after a cut and never had a problem. I firmly believe that paint is of no help in the...

Just out of curiosity, how can you be sure about that? "Do not leave stubs. Do not paint wounds. Do not remove collars." A.Shigo :)

What kind of trees are they? Can't ID them from the pics. How often do you trim them ? every year or two? Nice ladder you have there Maximalist! :)

    Before & After Tree Care

Ah. Funny ...been talking about this yesterday with a friend. They never say they get big or tall.Trees just get TOO big or TOO tall. I'd really like to understand in comparison to what .....:/:

    Before & After Tree Care

True. Here there is the bad habit to trim them as a cone or a pyramid: you can see some trimmed so hard that there is not even one leaf left. ( Easier and faster to make a good pyramid shape if you leave only the wood...). After a few years they still seem to be in good shape....... Don't...
