I switched to the Yale steel core without the crimped connection as some of the cheaper brands have. Also a swivel snap connection that I use on the Yale puts less stress on the cable too.- HolmenTree

A B.C. climber fell to his death 2 days ago. His name is Wes Hawley who owns a tree service company in the lower B.C. mainland. It appears his steel core lanyard gave way at the snap connection.- HolmenTree
