    The MS150 Has Arrived

Hey Fiona, my old 200 still looks pretty good, glad to see it's still making you money. That crack on the filter cover looks new though.

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Exactly what happened to me when I posted that I wore suspenders on the old Aussie Tree World site Someone posts a pic of garters and everyone cracks up:D

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Flywheel might come loose no matter nut torque. Don't forget any build up of dirt on the flywheel can throw it off balance putting stress on the key way fit.

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Keys do wear from assembly and disassembly and tight fit is compromised. New key installed in crankshaft keyway and flywheel torqued down makes a snug fit. Now on the subject of filing down flywheel keys to advance timing the void in fit is filled with LocTite, hopefully blue low strength...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Maybe it is......I was just giving free advice to anyone who may have a key issue with any other saw.:)

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Sometimes when changing out the flywheel reusing the old key can cause loosening problems .Always use a new key.

    The MS150 Has Arrived

I have no experience with that saw or that tiny chain it has. But I would think those tiny drive links would be working hard to capacity keeping the bar's oil hole clear along with distributing the oil. I suggest clean the bar rails, oil hole and bar pad every day.

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Carving bars with the tiny noses have no sprocket and bearings in them ,just chain running on a stellite reinforced surface. You'd have way too much friction if you tensioned the chain as you would normally with a regular sprocket nose bar. For the uneducated about chainsaw carving check out us...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

I'm not sure if that Echo takes a small 7 spline rim but I got a half dozen 1/4" 9Tooth Jak Max rims that I bought from Bailey's. I believe these rims are made in Australia. Bailey's sells the 1/4" conversion kits with b/c included for the Echo 305, 306, 340, 341, 345, 346.

    The MS150 Has Arrived

I just re- read this great thread of Randys. From the photo of the outlet on page 15 I can see just snipping the recessed outlet hole plate with a pair of small side cutters on both sides of the hole as far as you can, then prying up the 4 flaps with a screw driver would open up the outlet...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Thanks Randy and Fiona for your replies. Fiona, how about opening up your 150's muffler outlet with a pair of sidecutter pliers or tin snips , then just bend the flaps outward. No need to remove the muffler, no worries about getting debris inside ...... seeing your not replacing the screen...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

That would be a nice touch Jay, as long as your able to touch up the hole edge from the inside of the muffler.

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Fiona , are you using the little 1/4" chain that came with the saw, and if you are how do you like it? When you pull the muffler off and grind out the exhaust outlet to make it larger make sure you blow the muffler out through the exhaust port hole side with compressed air, rattle the muffler...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Good idea to put the outlet cover back on. , screen reinstalled will assure debris doesn't get in. Cover deflector is a must on those side exhausts to prevent burning holes in your Pfanner pants.

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Yes Fiona that chain really is tiny. Here's a pic I took of it on a battery saw the local Stihl dealer had on his shelf. Being called a Picco 1/4" it's an "extended pitch" 1/4" chain like the Picco 3/8" chain is designed with a 1/4" cutter bit with a chassis extended to 3/8". This little Picco...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

If you looked at my earlier post photo of this little chain Kevin you will see its even smaller then standard 1/4" chain. That's why I call it "ex tended pitch" 1/4" chain, same example as 3/8" extended pitch Picco chain compared in minature size to standard 3/8" chain. When you get down to the...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

The little 1/4" extended pitch chain and it's narrow nosed bar is a must for this saw for what it's designed for.......keeping the weight down and secondly less power to turn it. Also for smaller aerial tree removal bore cuts can be made into smaller stems and pruning would be more precise. Just...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Damn Stihl has smart marketing ,not only did they recently introduce a chisel Picco I just looked closer at this new 71PM3 chain and see they reinvented the extended pitch chain now from a 1/4 chain. Let me explain, when Stihl developed the 3/8 Picco extended pitch chain in 1979 the trend at...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

Here's the pics of the 71PM3 ,I think it is a good fit for a stock MS150 doing pruning only, should make a nice smooth cut.
