    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

The only real money is made in the Pros/Sportsman category. The purse at a local/amature event (if there is any) won't sustain you at all in racing. Even running a mildly built street rod that runs in the 14's... can get pricey. Parts break, fuel prices suck, entry fees, etc... It's more of a...

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Yup... a perfect reaction time is .000, and it's pretty tuff to do it without the aid of electronics. So if you can cut lights at .200 and quicker either foot braking (auto transmission) or side steppin' the clutch on a manual... it's doin' good! It's been so long since I've been to a...

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

I did... I didn't beat him... but kept up with him. Since the switch to 3.73's in the ass end of this thing... it gets up and moves. :) Gary

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Sweet Brian! Anything below .200 is getting there! When I was racing my El Camino 20 years ago... the suspension in that car was so sloppy... I was leaving as the 2nd yellow light would go out, and still cutting .100 lights  I have yet to put the truck on the track, but plan on it next...

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Yep... 12 seconds for a street car is quick. When I'm finally done with everything with the Muscle Truck... it should run low 11's high 10's. It would prolly keep pace with Brians Pony right now... but it would be hard to beat him. However... He is sleeping on the tree... :P Gary

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Quick update... the Muscle Truck will be goin' under the knife this winter. Gonna cut the rust out of the rocker panels in the cab, and replace parts of the cab floor as well. Also either cut the rust out of the doors and do patch panels, or just bite the bullet and buy new doors from the...

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Exactly why I am runnin' it as well Brian. The truck 12 bolts are a little weaker than the car 12 bolts, and the carrier bearings are know to deflect under a hard load. So the Moser unit with the preload adjusters on the bearing caps help out a lot. Stephen... What year is the truck, and...

I also upgraded the MSD ignition system with an MSD all digital 6AL with rev limiter. Pretty slick. I fabbed the mount for it too on the passenger side inner fenderwell. Gary

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Hey guys... :) I know I've been MIA for a spell. Just a lot goin on with the new gal, work, kids, and even more projects. Startin' to stockpile Holley carbs for rebuild and resale. :) Thanks for bumpin' this thread Brian! :) Over the winter I finally yarded the 12 bolt out of the rod and...

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Wires installed. These were a kit that I had to cut to length and crimp on the termianls myself. Gary

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

Exactly Jay... right now it is an "open" differential, where only one tire gets all the power. The posi-traction (or limited slip) has clutches in it that when under power engages both rear axles so you get positive engagement to both rear wheels instead of one. Gary

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

3 boxes showed up in the last week or so. 1 from Summit Racing, 1 from Randy's Ring & Pinion, and the other from Jeg's High Performance. MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor plug wires, Eaton posi-traction rear carrier, Richmond 3.73 ring and pinion, Mr. Gasket vacuum canister, and a Yukon Gear 12-bolt...

Thanks Stephen... I put another vid up on youtube of it idling in the driveway. But this time I walked behind it..i so you can really hear the cam through the 3" exhaust. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YXQ6yO7BxT4"...

The tubing bender is from Mac Tools. It's a quality product. Nice clean bends, and has marks for 45, 90, 135, and 180 degrees. The Craftsman flare tool is the cats ass. Nice 45 degree flares. Cool part is you can clamp it in a vice for better stability. :) Gary

    Project Muscle Truck (again!)

So I have been doin' a few projects on the Hot Rod... My Dad bought me a line bending tool, and a double flare tool for X-mas. So I finally got it out and bent up a new fuel line to run from the Carter fuel pump to the Holley carb... here's waht turned out. I'm prett happy at how "factory"...
