If he says yes, would you actually do that?

Kyle, why do you have to retie on every tree? When you come down from one tree, isn't your hitch where it needs to be already for resetting your line?

    Rope Runner Pro

Honestly, Kyle, if that is all you wanted, a Unicender will do those two things as well or better. What makes the Rope Runner Pro better is that it does 'everything' well. Climbers seem obsessed that a climbing setup allows the rope to just fall through by its own weight. While this 'can' be...

    Rope Runner Pro

While the RRP does work as advertised on a moving rope system, it is no better at it than a basic hitch based tool. Good that you were able to put it on a rope and get to know it some though.

I have been told that the original will continue to be produced. You should give some thought on just switching to the RRP. They both work fine, but the pro is way better, imho.

It only takes a few feet of rope to self tend when clipped into the tending point. If you need more for some reason, you can tie a throw bag onto the line.

Kyle, have you had a chance to climb with your RRP enough to make any comments on it?

Yeah, and they are probably the same people that are the most vocal about how screwed up the world is now.

    Rope Runner Pro

Yeah, the whole RRP is like that.

Yes! There is a decreasing spiral recess that captures the first latch and by twisting it automatically depresses that latch but not the second one, if you stop twisting it.

Have you guys figured out the top slick pin partial opening yet?

Good report, Kyle. I wouldn't worry too much about something sliding down your rope and making it release. That takes some doing. I have been using top release friction devices for a long time and have never come close to having something like that happen.

So have you stopped drooling on it long enough to put it on a rope?

I have a Rollclip Z triact for the SCAM retrievable redirect but this is different. The rope grabbing component on the Roll-n-Lock can be locked open, so it can be set on the rope and just follow you down a limb. Lock it in place and give it a flick and it will slide up the line allowing you to...

This is a very versatile combination and makes for a good 3:1 haul back.

Those are all still top of the line tools that have individual characteristics that make them worth having.

Much more amenable. The Akimbo is still great at what it does and I continue to use mine, but the RRP definitely will work well on the vast majority of ropes we use. It is very hitch like in use.
