    We'll, yesterday I was reminded why I hate chipping in sleet and rain. Stringy material, blades were due for changing, wet dead material. Clogged chute. Just trying to do the friend a favor when the weather cut loose. Probably the most miserable 1 hour chip job ever :lol:

    Have to do it some times on our live oaks here and grey pines occasionally. The stringy stuff. It'll often just wrap around the feed rollers. Sean makes a good point about your anvil condition. Straight clean edge is needed.

    2-3 mm sounds a bit open. My anvil is set to .035- . 040 inch which is just over 1mm

    :lol: @ Gary. Look at the brand on the motor as well. I had my drive motor that went bad on my dingo rebuilt with warranty for about 1/2 of the cost of new. Call around. I saved like 450.00. Well worth the 1.5 hour drive. The dowel or screw driver trick for bearing noise is good advise.
