A friend and his dad found an entire horse hitching ring and eyelagbolt well inside a black walnut tree they fell in Oregon. This was 30 years agoand it was totally grown over so they couldn't see any signs of anything being there before they made the cut.

There really is no " ground level" most of the timber is stooled up to a greater or lesser extent.
If you cut some steps on the roots you can usually get up to where the roots turn into a log without having to springboard up.
Tucker + Squishers, I like you guys more and more all the time. . The 394 Husky now 395 is one of the best relatively large wood bushelin saws of all time. It will pull a 50" bar with no problem, is easy on the hands ( doesn't vibrate much) and when juiced up can be just short of a monster...
