Hickory doesn't bring all that much for logs. If you buy cabinets they charge a premium for it. Probably cause it isn't much fun to work with.

Apple is great, once you get it dry. I have burned a lot of dead apple. Used it for smoking too.

Firewood is $100/facecord delivered in the Buffalo area. Ash, Oak, Hickory, Maple. Cherry goes for $120. I remember the first time I cut some dead Cherry and was anticipating what great firewood I had. Highly disappointed. I guess it makes nice fireplace wood. Sure isn't great in a stove.
