This is what I just bought with my new Oregon lightweight bar. Anyone have experience with it? One alpha off of what @BIGTWIG posted a pic of. Full chisel, full skip, to be round filed with 7/32" file.
Sounds like your analysis is entirely possible to me. Could the rails on the nose not be massaged back into proper shape? Or was the sprocket itself messed up?
That issue is outside of what I've seen...not to say you are mistaken at all. That's interesting. I'm just curious; what precisely is the damage?
In my experience, it's usually been throwing chains that has damaged nose sprockets. Or heavy wear from cutting in highly abrasive environments...
