I would use a girth hitch, but I'm accustomed to seeing a much stouter sling than that...the smaller the diameter of the material girthed, the more possible damage to itself under shock loads. Clevis or 50kN steel carabiner are good options. That webbing does look twisted.

It's gonna slip down...count on it. And then it's a girth hitch, which may not be your best choice.

All true...but not always achieved even if it is the objective. The number of negative rigged pieces that for one reason of another failed to run smoothly might be close to the number which did, if counted from the beginning of time :).

The girth hitch is not your best choice, either. Far weaker than the basket hitch, for example. I've used the double sheave pulley for drt redirect, worked nicely.

@Mesquite, I ended up keeping that 600 feet of HTP whole. A few times it was a great thing to have all in one piece. I retired only a few years later, and by then (2009) my bad hip was really cutting into my physical abilities, including climbing. Got that hip replaced in 2012, thankfully...

That is the way I look at it too, Stephen. I do not follow the other point of view at all.

40 to 1 is a leaner mix than 50 to 1? That doesn't compute in my little brain.

I've heard claims of using additives to remove ethanol from gas. The cost of the additives seemed to make the resulting fuel more costly than buying non-ethanol, to me. I have no idea if it works, either.
