It's entirely possible you heard/read it right here, from my keyboard :). I can confirm that Doug never taught it to us USFS C sawyer class students, nor recommended use of if questioned about it...and more to the point, advised against it's use. His approach was along these lines, if I might...

If I watched that video of DD Dent, and the rest of his catalog, once in the last 40 years, I bet it was (let's see...40 divided by 2, which is the scheduled re-up for USFS C level sawyer/faller certification) 20 times, more or less :D. I bet I know the monologue better than Doug did :lol:.
