Seems like I just cannot leave this subject alone :D. Anyway, for the holes, because I live here in non-metric land, I used a 1/2 inch spade bit to drill the tender hole, and 5/8 inch spade bit for the carabiner holes. Real close to the metric dimensions I was given by @Eric H-L. Thanks...

I am rather taken by the finish on the outside of the Kydex. Reminds me more than a bit of the carbon fiber finishes I see on auto accessories and the like. Bling!

If I had a heat gun, I might well have gone that route from the get-go Stephen. But I declare, the oven at 250 degrees/10 minutes was perfect for working with the Kydex. The boiling water dip was also user friendly for final detailed forming. So if you want to do this, and are without a...

Maybe a bit of diy magic from me, but without the wonderful generosity of Pat @pigwot it wouldn't be done.

Well, got it done. @pigwot , thanks again for the Kydex and pattern. It looks to me like the legs to the carabiner are a bit longer than optimal, but I also think it'll work fine. Yet to climb on it, but I'd be surprised if it's a problem. I heated it in the oven at 250 degrees for 10...

As I understand it, the hot Kydex cools extremely fast after removal from the water bath, due to rapid evaporation of the water still on the surface of the hot plastic. So, it's hard to work quickly enough to do the molding you want before it stiffens too much to be worked.

Decided against hot water...read about some downsides online. Oven it is.

Thanks very much...that is exactly the sort of info I was looking for, and the pictures are perfect. As to disharmony...we don't own a toaster oven, so that's safe :). I could do it in the regular kitchen oven, I think :D. I was thinking to try the hot water method. Any advice would be...

Hey, Pat @pigwot. I finally got around to cutting out the holster from the patterned sheet you sent. Thanks a million. That went fine. I have yet to try to mold it, but I think that'll not be a problem. If I have trouble with it, I'll be back with more questions. But I'm not sure what...

I think that our old friend Sean @Bounce also did a manual SRT ascent on that tree, iirc. Too bad he's not currently active, been so quite a few years. But he went away and came back before, so who knows :).

@Ryan Here's a thread that shows the bits and bobs of the system Stephen displayed, so you can more easily (perhaps:)) visualize how they all go together. https://www.masterblasterhome.com/threads/bs-version-of-sherrills-tree-frog.9950/#post-215428

@Knotorious, I never addressed your advance tether in any way. Neither did CursedVoyce specifically, to the best of my ability to understand. All I did was bring the old thread to our attention, should we, especially @Ryan who is just beginning to work through this device and its associated...

Do you only read posts that are specifically directed at you? I was quite clear, in a post directly following Stephen's, that "here is the thread that contains all that he has just noted". Your question to him was superfluous, as the answer was right in front of you. @Knotorious

@Ryan when you get your HH, here is a very nice set up pictured by DMc. Perhaps adaptable to the RW. https://www.masterblasterhome.com/threads/any-rope-wrench-or-hitch-hiker-users-here.16936/page-31#post-658462 In fact, you might want to read that whole thread. Good stuff from a while ago...
