True, but that biner wouldn't stand up to being thrown to the ground with a log on top of it all that well. Nonetheless, if it was me, and I HAD to rap that way, I'd sacrifice the biner rather that go rope on rope. I only need that for the top drawer, Stig. I can manage the lower ones...

Ok...Burnham has seen this :lol:. No matter how careful you are with this rope on rope tie in Paul, it's waaaaay off the reservation, as you seem to be well aware. And yet you persist, and I cannot fathom why. Not when there is an easy way to do the same thing far more safely, if we ignore...

In many cases, it's the same for me Stig. Though I've worked with a couple of older riggers and ropemen that had their stuff dialed in before we ever worked together...those are relationships worth cultivating :).

As well I know, having the pleasure of meeting at Zipfest :). Dave and I have nothing on the two ladies we've respectively matched with when it comes to knowing trees.

I have found that in most cases I don't care for the change in diameter and stiffness that spliced eyes make in tresse cords. I like 'em short, and the tied eyes let me get that better that splices. Plus, waaaay cheaper. Spliced eyes are the cat's meow on climb lines, or lanyard...

A decent SRT ascent system is this one...tree frog, with B's mods.

If you want to try a smoother DRT system here's an example. It's more convenient to use an oval carabiner in the lower position, so you can rotate it end for end to clip to the harness.
