That's a neat rig. Never saw that before.

Seems like they would be better in the one thing you mention, over a spliced eye. I'm sure they are safe. I've used one loaned to me for a few days, but like you, I never have purchased any. It worked fine, but was a little long for my taste, and there was nothing to be done about it :).

Eye spliced hitch cords are nice in some ways, but suck more in others, to my mind. The prime advantage of spliced eye hitch cords is the compact finish. It may well be the only advantage over knotted eyes. Knotted eyes, on the other hand, have many advantages. They are much cheaper, are...

Agreed, Gary. The knut is a very solid and reliable friction hitch.

I'll defer, having never felt the need to find a better lanyard hitch than the distel. Let me emphasize...lanyard hitch :). On to other purposes, the distel does sometimes show some limitations. The Michoacan has always looked like a fine hitch, to my eyes...but even though I have tied it up...

Looks fine. Distel would shorten it up and always has worked well for me on my made lanyards.

So really...that loop in the middle doesn't get hung up enough to drive you crazy? I guess not, or you wouldn't love it, now would you :|: ?

Here it is...but I think it's the same as bonner posted.

Also known as "motion lanyard"...I built one of about 80 feet, myself. It works fine, but only because it's got plenty of length to work with, unlike most DEDA lanyards. It still suffers from the problem of the loop in the middle being a hassle getting hung on things.

This is where I always run into trouble with a DEDA vs. two seperate lanyards...I near max out one end moving to a position from where I want to advance the other end further...and I don't have enough length left to do squat with. Now I know I could have made a 40 foot DEDA, but that is a true...

Perhaps it is, but I did issue my judgement with the caveat, "imo". In my opinion, I still think it's stupid idea :). And you my friend, and of course everyone else as well, is entitled to disregard that judgement. I'm sorry if my certitude rubbed the wrong way, I had no intention of implying...

I don't want one adjuster :). I want two completely seperate lanyards. Your system would still leave me with most of the rope out and nothing much to work with when I want to advance the second head. The loop below the shunt would be a continual hassle to me, as well. Always was with other...

I like alt lanyard technique, use it quite a lot...don't get me wrong. I'd just much rather use two seperate single head lanyards.

Oh, they must work for some people, Stephen...otherwise the idea wouldn't have legs. But I sure don't get it...not with my style anyway.

And I don't see the sense in short ones. DEDA never worked for me...I'd always end up with 12 feet in play on one side of the adjuster and nothing to work with on the other...stupid idea imo.
