    "I bought a fire truck!"

Toms' first bucket had a boom exactly like that ,mounted on a Chevy ton and a half with a 292 six banger . 42 or 45 footer . The damned thing kept blowing the low pressure control hydraulic lines . I put a regulator on it but it didn't help . So much for that . Nice pictures of the fire...

    "I bought a fire truck!"

Rambling on .It used to be as cheap to buy the whole Lincoln to retrieve the engine and tranny as to buy them seperate .They also used to snatch 403 Olds engines for hot rod trucks and 455's . I imagine when the Chinese made a run on scrap metal a year ago that many an old gas guzzler met an...

    "I bought a fire truck!"

I have both a 390 and a 460 in my shop as a matter of fact . Plus a C6 tranny and a 9 inch Ford rear end with disc brakes from a 78 Lincoln MK 5 . Why I ever kept them I have not a clue . Both would make good classic hot rod pick-em-truck engines . The 390 is a true truck engine .Forged...

    "I bought a fire truck!"

My friend who is deceased now told a story about a big old pumper his fire department bought from the Air Force at Wright -Pat .Low hours, huge pumper with a 503 in line 6 . He said that slow running six would out pump a 427 V8 the department had . The exhaust pipe finally went bad and it took...

    "I bought a fire truck!"

Some of those fire trucks of that age did have huge gasoline engines .The Fords were often 534's the Chevy/GMC's used a huge in line 6 of 500 -600 cubic inch range . Dependable, produced max torque at relatively low speed,2400 or so . Used a lot of gas though .

Ebonics perhaps but let me tell you La. has a lingo all of it's own in certain places from my limited observation of folks from those regions .On the other hand the same thing could be said about Ohio I would well imagine .

As I understand it,fire departments are mandated to replace equipment after a certain period of years irreguardless of the shape it's in . I might add for those interested they might look up an on line auction site called gov deals .com .All kinds of stuff that might be of interest .

    "I bought a fire truck!"

Often times old outdated fire equipment goes pretty cheap .A local tree service had a 90 foot ladder truck they bought for about 2 thousand bucks and used on rare occasions . They most likely paid for itself on about two jobs as it could reach most trees sitting on the road side and could reach...
