Profitability of buying a bucket truck

Good point, but I wouldn't even look at a unit without air brakes. The one I am looking at is 33000# GVWR. I have held my Class A CDL for 6 years and plan on being the only driver/operator of this unit for the foreseeable future. I have my USDOT number and am a "qualified" inspector. The...

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

Yep, good point, also I have already learned that paying people well does not seem to make them work any harder.

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

Access can be fairly crappy around here, but I swear I have had so many perfect bucket jobs slip through my fingers lately. It is also a must-have for municipal / highway pruning work. And dead tree removals, etc. Yes.

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

Yeah, I climbed for a guy in a metro area and we finished plenty of hack's jobs. Most of those customers probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger had it not been for the low initial price from the hack.

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

Good points.. Definitely staying away from the cheap ones.. I won't get one till I can afford something safe and well maintained. Don't want some death trap/money pit. Looking at a well maintained '02 Intl w/ rear mounted ALC 60-50 that was reconditioned at the factory just before they shut...

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

Yeah, even a 75 footer can't reach the top of many trees around here, but it's pretty nice to block down a big stem out of the bucket after being on spikes all day. Also alot safer around electrical hazards.

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

I have joked about buying a craigslist special for scrap price, lettering it up, and parking it out by the road just as a billboard.

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

Well that's why I'm thinking about it, I found a truck like you are describing. No orange paint underneath! :) I know more work won't just pop up, but I am hoping being able to get a greater range of jobs and sub out with the bucket will make it worth it out of the gate...

Profitability of buying a bucket truck

When I tell people that I'm an arborist they always ask if I have a chipper and/or insurance. I would not have gone into business without a chipper and insurance. The next question is do you have a bucket truck? No, but I'm a good climber. For whatever reason I seem to always lose points for...
