Yes indeedy. I had a dull headache that turned into a thumper when I got my heart rate up. I figured something was wrong. Partially clogged stove pipe.
Shutting down the pipe with an end cap and closing intakes would make it good to go down the road. Heckuva draft with an open smoke pipe at 55.
Very nice soapstone stove. That deal was killer for sure.
I have heated pretty much exclusively with wood for 35 years. I really like not giving my dollars to some oversea country that probably hates us, plus not paying the tax on top of that. The heat is pretty nice too.
We built a double-barrel stove for the shop 30 years ago. The bottom is a 55 gallon drum and the top is an old oil forced air furnace. I put a baffle in it so the smoke has to make a few loops. It throws heat pretty well.
I bought a d-b stove at a yard sale last year for $20. About 40...
Have you put one of the heat/fans on yours? I have a Magic Heat I got for nothing I should put on my pipe. I just have a plain Jane cabinet stove - Wonder Wood/Coal. Never tried any coal in it. The grates are about burned out on wood.
Best thing I ever did was install double wall pipe...
