Sounds like you had a bad experience with a bad unit many years ago, Butch. Pistol grips don't require much pressure or muscle to use. About as much pressure as pushing the three individual levers on an old style setup, except there's only one. That must have been one messed up control to bias...
There isn't any 'break in' for a pistol grip, just getting it adjusted and set up properly. I suspect the one you're talking about has unresolved problems that won't fix themselves if you just keep using it long enough. Just like the bucket that doesn't hang level.
You will quickly come to love the pistol grip. One hand action all the time, no need to play three different levers. I haven't run a bucket with levers in years.
Are you saying that you haven't even been able to sneak the truck out to do a single job yet? It's not like they can see the tag...
Line the saw boxes with plywood, not rubber. Trust me on this. Pack the saws to the back of the box so they won't slide from one end to the other when you dump. With the plywood liner you can easily nail or screw down little stops to hold the saws in place. And you can probably make a divider...
It seems like the Treehouse Brotherhood just keeps getting stronger. It's nice having so many guys in so many places you can call on when you need a hand. 8)
Leon, Justin doesn't have a passport so I believe he's going to have it delivered to the border and processed through customs. Then Justin will pick it up on the Canadian side.
Justin, make sure you talk to Lonnie about getting the truck cleared for Canadian registration. I'm not sure what all...
Funny, because I had an air brake endorsement for many years on my license.
I guess this just goes to prove that every state is different, and Canadian laws are different from American laws.
Andrew- 26000 lbs, yes (I think). I believe the clerk said that it could be listed as a restriction (no air brake equipped vehicles) but was no longer listed as a separate endorsement.
It used to be until very recently. I think on my last renewal I asked why they didn't list the air brake endorsement and they said it wasn't a separate deal any more.
It's real simple- you need air pressure to release the brakes. Without air pressure, it ain't moving. Typically very low maintenance and repair costs are usually much less than Ford's old electric over hydraulic setup. Mine had a couple leaks when I got it but they were just bad fittings. Easy...
The Cat 3126 is a very good motor with a very good reputation.
According to what I've found through Google, it looks like the 3126 may very well be the predecessor to the C7. I cannot find exact specs but both are 7.2 liter inline 6 motors. I can't find any current info on the Caterpillar...
