    Tracked Chippers in the USA?

An overcenter/unloading valve. I'd check and see if it's a problem before plumbing one in. On my mini I've excluded the one from the factory and I haven't had a problem with it, even when taking my 4500lb lift down my (steep) driveway. One possible downside is with the engine off, if you...

I thought about that also, makes backing up a bit interesting though. Depending on the state, it may be completely legal.

Chip sales? Everywhere I dump them is using them for mulch.

The dump is free, but it's still near 20 miles out (40 round trip). I have and can develop more places to dump chip for free, or haul them here for personal use/potential future sale. Also the time savings would be nice, allowing me to be more competitive on jobs removing several trees.

I can get rid of chips without having to make a 40 mile trip to the dump. Oak goes to my firewood guy who usually pics it up. My dump trailer can hold 20 yards no problem. With as much real estate as it has, on smaller jobs I can blow chips in the front, logs in the back,

Why machine feed a 12-14"? A 1590 might fit the bill.

My current chipper has an opening 14"x17" and want to be able to chip bigger logs.

When I'm pushing unless I know it's an easy push, I put the blade behind me so I can gain a bit more purchase. Then again they are typically smaller than that unit.

    Tracked Chippers in the USA?

For me a self propelled chipper would be nice as it could load itself into the dump trailer. Also it'd hold still without chocking the tires when the mini is shoving a brushy top through the infeed. So far it hasn't been that big of a deal. In the dream world I reside, I could tow the lift...

You can do alot for $30k. Brendon found a place that sells the whole track setup for $6k a pair. I'm pretty sure I can build a frame to hold them to the machine for less than $20k. Hopefully I could get the hoses and 2 spool valves for under $4k ;).

I believe all the large chipper mfgs will make them on tracks. The only problem is it adds $20-30k to the price. My hopeful plan is to buy a 18-20" chipper next year, assuming the way I currently handle debris stays the same. It will most likely be too wide to haul it in the trailer, but...

You can buy the tracks with hydro motors, but they'd be like $6k and you still have to build the sub frame. I was thinking of building a skid (like a skid steer) undercarriage or using a pair of driven steer axles. So far I'm not doing anything. I am wondering if a Boxer mini skid would have...
