I know the 200T very well, so I will be able to give an honest comparison. Already, I like the 'captive' bar nut and other screws. I've lost bar nuts on Stihl before...I like the threaded fuel caps a little better than the Stihl caps. With the Stihl caps, I've snapped them in 'off kilter'...
Hey guy's/gals, I bought a Husky T540XP II and started it up today. I haven't cut anything with it yet, but I'm impressed with the torq and HP. This sucker is right up with the old 200T. I'll keep you updated on it as I cut down some burned up trees on my property...
Hope so. I guess we'll see in Sept./Oct. If they're reasonable, I do need a saw in that class. I wouldn't mind paying a couple hundred more than a 462...
Hey Stig, I talked to my Stihl dealer today and he said the 500i should be available in the USA in Sept. or Oct. of this year.
But it's going to be PRICEY! $2,500 US...
No problemo Stig. I always (wrongly) think of the Swiss as being included in the EU because they are a part of the 'single market'. And they're right next door to the EU members and on the continent... No offense to your wife!!!
The old Homelite saws were good too. As late as the 70's and early 80's. I wouldn't call them 'pro saws' though. They don't make them in the USA anymore though and the quality on all their products is sub-standard nowadays...
Agree on the Toyota quality/Japanese being more dependable in the late 60's. Two guy's from the USA taught the major Japanese companies about total quality control and just-in-time manufacturing after WWII; I did a thesis on Japanese quality back in the 80's. Look up W. Edwards Deming and a...
I may get one. I do have a Husky T540XP II on order. Thought I'd give it a try. Been a Stihl man exclusively previous to the fire that burned down my house... Do you have the Echo? Care to share your experience/likes/dislikes??? Are they using Zama carbs???
Yep. Some of us are getting complacent about it too. We shouldn't accept it. We should push back! We used to have the best quality in the whole world here in the USA. We taught the Japanese how to make quality products; prior to 1980 they're stuff was worse than China is today.
No, the right way to do it is to test your stuff completely before going to market. I'm a retired software engineer and I know a lot about
testing. It's the most important part of product development... A lot of large companies nowadays don't do it right! Did you hear about Boeing
and their...
Thanks all you guy's for chiming in on this. I'm getting the impression that, maybe, the newer 'Mark II' Husky's are better with autotune than the originals? These two companies really are using us as guinea pigs... I'm going to write them both a letter...
I'm looking at the 562XP as a possible mid-sized saw. It's got a Zama carb (microchiped), according to Husky support. I would prefer Walbro, but it's hard nowadays to get away from Zama... Sounds like yours is running fine though; that's encouraging.
I wonder if we can get the software to...
