    How'd it go today?

Off work today. Went HomeDepot to get a lid for one of their buckets. I scored a bunch of Toblerone bars $7/8, and I'm gonna give them out for halloween. I wanted to use a bucket to store them so bugs don't get inside til then. I had the almost new bucket I got with the little shopvac, so all I...

    How'd it go today?

I have Aspen as backup fuel my saws. It would be expensive running it(Aspen4) in the chipper. It would cost $164 to fill the tank, or ~$40/hr.

    How'd it go today?

Worked with Mike on the job we were on last week. He's removing hangers here... I was telling him, ICE exhaust has really been bothering me lately. I was feeding the chipper, and felt like I was gonna fall out. Running my saws even for a minute gets me feeling half sick. Some of it's the...

    The Official Treehouse Articles Thread

Mushrooms and carbon capture. It isn't just about mushrooms though. It gets into trees, and their symbiotic relationship with fungi. There could be some interesting strategies with replanting in diminished soil. Maybe inoculate the ground with each seedling? Beyond my pay grade, but it would...

I'm not sure how to tell if kraut goes bad. It's really just cabbage that went off. I guess there has to be a death date at some point, but I haven't found it yet.

    How'd it go today?

Well, the kid's still young. Kave also has the opportunity to be a good teacher, if the kid can be a good student. It's satisfying seeing n00bs develop over time. Unfortunately, many don't develop all that well.

    How'd it go today?

That's annoying as shit, and disrespectful of your time. On a practical note, earlier's better than later to take advantage of cooler temps, or whatever passes for those where you're at.

    The Joke/Funny Pic/Video Thread

My first removal ever was ~20 years when a blue spruce partially uprooted next to my drive. I tethered the tree to one of my locusts to keep it from going over, limbed it going up, leaving longish stubs as a ladder, then taking it down from the top. All with a bowsaw. An ash later came up next...

I wonder what the idea is there? I can see the first ladder, but the second one just complicates the natural ladder already in place.

I might do something about that leaner. A lot of good firewood there in place that doesn't seem to have much.

Stop Using "Double Fisherman's Knot" to Refer to the "Poacher's Knot" AKA "Double Overhand Noose!"

I appreciate your attention to detail, and that's always kind of bothered me too. I will admit that in the past, I confused the poachers and scaffold knots. I thought they were different names for the same thing, and both doubled. I don't see any benefit to doing it three times as a proper scaffold.
