Sweet! I have a similar rear end cover/ girdle on the Mustang. I got it because I'm launching at 5K rpm on slicks and that will tend to rip the bearings out of the rear end, the girdle helps keep them in place.

That works, although why wouldn't you just add an extra gasket or thin spacer between the carb and intake? Last time I messed around with Holley carbs, they had different size risers to go between the carb and intake for the appropriate clearance. Not questioning your actions, just asking to...
