well, 2 main reasons...
weight loss. I'm around 210 and would like to be down to 180
I think being lighter I wouldn't get so tired out working in the summer heat.
Also thinking health (all things being equal) ... better all around not to be carrying around 30 lbs (or so) of pure fat all the...
Oatmeal (cooked 60+ minutes), butter, and honey -- had this for supper a few nights ago.
will have to give this up if I go keto... but it will be worth it.
getting ready to go to steak place made out of timbers and thick sliced wood slabs for tables.

Butch, are you sure you can't eat (e.g.) leafy vegetables? ... and what about mayonnaise? ... it is mainly eggs with no sugar isn't it?
Jim, you always have tasty looking food it seems!
Jonny, that is motivating!
I've been doing intermittent fasting for about 9 months... started eating from...
gained 6+ lbs since Christmas.... today bought several pastries from Panera Bread and some Ice Cream.
planning on having a frozen Angus burger from Sams tonight, followed by some ice cream and pastries.
giving myself until next Monday when I plan to get back to eating good (still...
hey Butch.... no sir, it may be full of all kinds of chemicals... but not much sugar (or carbs) in most/all store bought Ranch and Blue Cheese dressings.
.... usually 1 gram per serving (2 Tablespoons).
Getting ready to go eat this..... after I eat the rest of my steak from our birthday dinner...
Blue Cheese and Ranch dressings are both low in carbs.... if this counts as keto.
So that's the big deal about "gut bacteria"? .... eating sauerkraut(?) also low in carbs --- and yogurt (not low in carbs).
Jonny, you may have said before, but how many carbs to you eat a day approx to maintain ketosis?
Yeah, some Atkins bars have more sugar and sugar alcohols than others.
The Lemon Bars and the Caramel Clusters are some of the least.
buckwheat groats browned and cooked on the stove with sharp cheddar cheese melted in.
then
corned beef and swiss sandwich on wal-mart rye bread
then
maybe some chocolate and/or Adkins low-carb bars.
and/or maybe
frozen blueberry and buttermilk shake/smoothie.
that keto taco casserole looks pretty good, Jonny.... got to try that if I try keto soon.
getting ready to go light the grill to cook some chicken thighs (bone-in, with skin) with store bought bbq sauce.
yeah, not based on anything except 2 anecdotal "facts"
1) people do add sugar in all kinds of things to enhance the flavor
2) it seems like macdonald buns have a sweeter than normal taste to them.
my theory about macdonald's distinct taste that makes it taste good is that they put extra sugar in everything.... the buns, the meat, the fries, etc. .... but I could be wrong.
been putting at least 1/2 avocodo in my daily vegetable shake for a while now.
Sam's Club has them for about 5 for $4 I think.
Bought some corned beef, swiss cheese, and (wal-mart) Rye bread yesterday. Already have the sourkraut.
now going to look online and see how to make a Ruben sandwich for...
I've done Atkins before and sort of go back and forth with low-carb more or less.
But it seems (they say) the "Keto" diet is more advanced and "sustainable" and healthy.
Does anyone have any specific recommended online or book sources for getting started in Keto diet?
