Done some milling past day. Made up a cookie jig a while ago, first time used it. Having checker plate for a pad is pretty good during winter.

    New pull start handles

I stuck a D handle on one of my 088s, cold start kick backs are painfull, but since I only mill with my 088s I strap the saw and mill on my tailgate and I can put my whole body into cold starting it, a real bonus, making chainsaw milling suck 10% less.

    New pull start handles

Drop start, no brake, no fear. Regardless of saw, after five pulls, I'm edging on pissed. Much more than that, and the saw has attempted to ruin my day, and I have the urge to return the favor.

    Employment and Training Woes

Many moons ago, I looked up at the climber above me, then back down at the rake in my hand. I made the uninformed decision to harass him into putting me in a harness. Stay humble, and go sell yourself. Washington state? Y'all got mistletoe up there? Go for a walk in more affluent...

    Employment and Training Woes

Tree service is so fascinating and brings so much passion out of me. However companies aren't hiring in my area. Drove two hours to work for a company outside my local area at the entry level, but due to expenses and complications I had to give notice. I study hard, mostly ISA material, have...

    New pull start handles

dropstart with the chainbrake on, i don‘t see the problem safetywise and it feels less taxing on my body.

    New pull start handles

Good to hear the handles work. As for starting, 3 or so attempts in the traditional ’one hand on the handle, one hand on the pull starter’ Then I’ll drop start the bastard.

    New pull start handles

I don't, and never have really liked that method. In my experience, it works pretty well if the saw is already warmed up, but on a cold saw I find it tiresome. For me, it only works at all with big enough saws to have serious mass. I prefer standing on the rear handle base with my right...

    How'd it go today?

I put the tire chains on the Kubota this afternoon. It's not really a one person job, but it's also not something you want help with. :|: I am now ready for a blizzard, but I'm hoping my preparedness will scare any more snow away.
