I discovered that mulberry is related to Osage Orange. That told me a lot. Their roots are both orange. That's what gave me cause to research.

We have lots of fruitless that get hard pollarded to the same place every year, ugly while pollarded. Get all hollow and rotten and nasty and will never die. I tried to rip some small ones out with 12,000lb winch and they gave me quite the trouble.

I actually would feel much better about that failure, knowing it was not bad material, but rather bad installation of the swage. Poor quality cable you cannot fix...poor quality assembly, you can.

Fruitless Mulberry. Morus alba. Been pollarding this one for years. Couple of the leads are showing decay. One is dying. The smallest of 5. Those will come off next year. Leaving the 3 larger.

True re mulberry but my guess is that is definitely not one in the pic
