we don't live in an area with storms, an hour north we'd be covered up in work, and I advertise in that area for storm season but so many door knockers about, illegally, that I've had 2 or 3 real storm jobs in 4 years and none of them were worth a days pay, usually done in an hour or two and...

It could be worth hanging on to until storm season next year. Stay debt free on your equipment as much as possible. Nothing like not having to make payments on something, even if it isn't the best.
