Butch I'd use line too if it was close enough... We usually always had 12' pruners on site or in the tree in line clearance...they were our closest companion

I used a throwing knot for getting it out there and a pole saw w/out the blade on, or pruners, to retrieve it usually.

If it's too far out to limb walk (roughly 30 degrees give or take from vertical to tie in) you can use the free end of your climb line, if there is enough, (or another line) to pull yourself out in certain circumstances. usually referred to as “double-crotching.”

A Mom visits her son for dinner who lives with a girl roommate. During the course of the meal, his mother couldn't help but notice how pretty his roommate was. She had long been suspicious of a relationship between the two, and this had only made her more curious.... Over the course of the evening, while watching the two interact, she started to wonder if there was more between him and his roommate than met the eye. Reading his mom's thoughts, his son volunteered, “I know what you must be thinking, but I assure you,we are just roommates." About a week later, his roommate came to him saying, “Ever since your mother came to dinner, I've been unable to find the silver plate. You don't suppose she took it, do you?" He said ,"Well, I doubt it, but I'll email her, just to be sure." He sat down and wrote : Dear Mother: I'm not saying that you ‘did' take the silver plate from my house, I'm not saying that you ‘did not' take the silver plate But the fact remains that it has been missing ever since you were here for dinner. Love, your son. Several days later, he received an email from his Mother which read: Dear Son: I'm not saying that you ‘do' sleep with your roommate, and I'm not saying that you ‘do not' sleep with her. But the fact remains that if she was sleeping in her OWN bed, she would have found the silver plate by now, under her pillow… Love, Mom.

Sometimes...I'm trying out new types on both instruments. I think I like them both better than the old sets, but will see how they play & sound after they settle in a bit. I have another, slightly heavier new set for the mando...I'll run these for a while then switch & see which I like better. Mandolin strings are inexpensive enough to go through several sets before I reach the price of one set for the fiddle.

Well, got my place mowed finally yesterday. New strings on the mando & old fiddle…Guitar is in the shop getting the bridge glued back down and should get it back in a week or so…I’m ready for the snow to fly! Going to try again to get the tractor out onto the driving range this afternoon to pick balls and mow if possible…hoping it’s dry enough today.

No "scooped". Jimmy did mine with a dremel drum sander, and covered the rest of the instrument for dust, but this is essentially the same operation. https://musicvillageusa.com/blogs/gu...gerboard-scoop The "sweet spot" for most lead picking falls in the area that is lowered...gets rid of annoying clicks the pick can make when striking strings.

Just got back home from a friends'. He scooped the "florida" out of my mandolin fingerboard for me. Also left my guitar there to get the bridge glued back down. Ordered some new strings for the mandolin. Trying not to notice the grass that needs mowed...

Another rain day (3rd in a row now)...getting to know my new mandolin pretty well this week. Heading up to a buddies on Sat to have him scoop/lower the "Florida" section at the end of the fingerboard. It's a non-used, decorative section that makes an annoying clicking noise when the pick makes contact with it.
