Blasting.

Are there any blasters on here? How prevalent is that in continental U.S forestry.
It seems like it could be a valuable tool in the rural tree cutters tool belt but I have limited knowledge on the subject. Is it cost effective enough to use on high risk trees on private properties?

Not common but most of the USFS regions have a cadre of certified blasters.

Rifle and tannerite. I have said it before and I’ll say it again, I would love to blast trees! Reg has, Jerry has or at least had a hand in it I’m sure, Burnham check, Gord check, and that’s about all the members I can think of. There have been a few threads here and there over the years.

Farmers here did it for decades....Easier to blow the tree and stump at once than doing it seperate.

Yes , explosives available at the hardware store , the good ol' days. So the story goes a little outfit called Controlled Demolition was started by Grandpa blowing out stumps for locals , he was really good at it.

I've got a dynamite auger but I'm not a blaster .Fact recently last fall I used it to bore under a side walk to run a propane line .I know exactly nothing about blasting not do I want to .
