We took a day and a half on the return leg of our trip down to CA to see the in-laws for a side trip over to the central Oregon coast. We lucked out, hit a nice low tide and a bright, sunny day...cool, but beautiful, just stellar.

Here's some pics of harbor seals and a rock climbing dog :)....enjoy!

We were able to explore the finest sea cave complex I've ever been in. The pics don't do it justice. Seldom is this one possible to walk in, only at minus tides.

Nice scenery, Burnham.
There is a lot of birdshit on top of those rocks, anything interesting up there, birdwise?
Jasper the rockhound sure looks happy.

Jasper the rockhound sure looks happy.

Murres, auklets, petrels, guillemots, puffins, oystercatchers, brown pelicans, cormorants, gulls; I don't know what else...:D

We did see one bald eagle cruise over the beach, too.

Wow. I really need to go out west some time. The furthest west I've ever been is St. Louis. :big-sad1:

Great pics Burnam... Katy wants to know how you managed to get a clear day on the Oregon coast... This is coming from the Gorge girl from Oregon.... What can I say .. LOL
Beautiful beach and great caves...

Abalone is very restricted here Frans. Something like 1 per day and 5 per year. Hardly worth fooling with

You could make a good meal out of one big ab.

You would have to be able to eat ALOT. Last ab I got was 10.5 inches. massive slug I cut into real thin slices and soaked in homemade thai peanut sauce then bbq'ed.
Fed 4 of us.

BBQd abalone, never have eaten it that way. Isn't it tough? Thin sliced, pounded, breaded then fried for some seconds, is the only way I've indulged. Never looked for anything beyond that cooking method, it's so delicious.

the shell. the meat looks nasty
