Egads, how time flies. In a month, it will be 13 years since the 20 of us lucky enough to work with Jerry assembled along Hwy 101 to perform hazard reduction pruning on the tree, the largest redwood right on Hwy 101. 18 feet across, and 250 feet tall to its 3 foot diameter broken top.

The below 17 images are from two rolls of print film which I have never presented. I also shot a fair bit with my little digital camera, a 4 mp Canon, and a couple rolls of slide film. I've never digitized them either--what a slacker!! I may need to reload online the old digital images..... Jerry produced a professional video of the job, which i think is out of print....

The 17 image slide show:

It was huge on TB too. Epic tree project in the early days of tree forums.

How time flies! The tree needs a bit more work, still: hairs sticking out, deadwood, limb-tips pulled back.... Today it is a fuller / greener tree that it was before the work. All in all, a great success! Thank you everyone that made it happen.

There were a lot of things going on with that tree, and root zone impacts was but one. More immediately though it was losing limbs over the gift shop, and nearly killed a couple people one day. We did a limb tip reduction, deadwood removal and root zone injection. Today, it's a lot prettier tree, minus all the deadwood, and it has brushed out and filled in many of the voids it had before.

Thanks, Ger. It's gotta be around the house somewhere..... I don't think I loaned to anyone.....

A great project and a great DVD. Thanks Jer for taking the time to document the work, and so glad to hear that the tree is doing well!
